Kannapolis Campus

Founding and Lead Pastors, Jay and Melanie Stewart, started The Refuge Church out of a basement in 2004. They have faithfully cultivated a culture of actively “being the church” within the community. They both share a genuine love for people and a desire to see individuals come to know Christ in a real and personal way.

Pastors Jay and Melanie have known each other since high school and have been married for 37 years. They are parents to 5 children and 3 grandchildren.

Pastor Jay is a published author, coach to other pastors, endeavoring always to further the presentation of the gospel.
