We are so thrilled that you are here! Thanks so much for investing your time into answering this simple, yet profound, question. In answering this question, let’s look a few essential truths…
The dictionary definition of a Refuge is this: “A protective shelter that provides a safe place to receive help in time of need.” We are all so much alike in that we all face challenging times, have need of support and face storms in life. What separates us, one from another, is the answer to this key question: to whom do we turn when we are confronted by life’s challenges?
Author Peter Zarlenga said this, “To take Refuge with an inferior is to betray one’s self.” We encourage you to take refuge in the One who created and designed you for greatness. Take refuge in the One who can look beyond your present circumstance and see your victorious outcome. Take Refuge in the Lord Jesus Christ.
God is our Refuge and strength, a very present help in trials. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the sea!
– Psalm 46:1-2
Let us come boldly to [God’s] throne of grace, that we may find mercy, and receive grace to help us in our times of need.
– Hebrews 4:16
The name of the Lord is like a strong tower.
– Proverbs 18:10
One way that God provides a Refuge is through His abiding presence in our lives. God made this promise in Exodus 33:14 of the Bible, “My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.” We can take Refuge in Jesus Christ at any time, in any place and under any circumstance.
God also provides a Refuge through His people. This is where we come in. As a group of believers in the Lord Jesus Christ, our mission in the city of Concord and beyond is to be the church and not just do church. That means that we are here serve you as a tangible extension of Godʼs loving care.
